Empowering Children. Strengthening Families. Sustaining Communities.

Every Child Deserves a Strong Start in Life

Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programme

The Christiana Olawumi Foundation implements a comprehensive Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programme designed to improve the well-being, safety, and future opportunities of vulnerable children and their households. Our approach focuses on strengthening children, caregivers, and families through integrated support services that promote healthy development and long-term stability.

What We Do

  • Child-centered health and wellness support

  • Psycho-social care, mentoring, and emotional support

  • Nutrition support for improved growth and well-being

  • Household strengthening and economic empowerment

  • Caregiver training and positive parenting support

  • Education support and school retention initiatives

Our Approach

We adopt a family-centered and community-based approach, addressing not only the needs of the child but also the conditions within the household and caregiving environment. By supporting caregivers and strengthening family systems, we create safe, stable, and nurturing environments where children can thrive.

Health, Protection, and Stability

Our programme promotes child health and protection through access to essential health services, psycho-social support, and safe spaces. Structured counseling and mentorship help children build resilience, while caregivers receive guidance to provide consistent care and protection.

Nutrition and Household Support

Good nutrition is central to child development. We support households with nutrition-focused interventions and caregiver education, while also strengthening household economic capacity to ensure children’s needs are sustainably met.

Caregiver Empowerment

Caregivers are equipped with knowledge, skills, and resources to provide quality care. Through training, mentoring, and community engagement, caregivers are empowered to support children’s physical, emotional, and educational needs.

Sustainability and Impact

By building household resilience, empowering caregivers, and fostering community ownership, our OVC programme delivers sustainable outcomes. Continuous monitoring and learning ensure that interventions remain responsive and impactful over time.
